Book Review: The Lake House, by Kate Morton

thelakehouse

In this intriguing whodunit, a modern day detective sets out to uncover the truth about what happened when a toddler went missing from an estate in 1930’s England. I haven’t been so sucked into a fictional world in a long time. I don’t always love novels that jump back and forth between modern day and a period in history, but this one is done well. The plotting and pacing are very successful. It’s definitely a stay-up-too-late-to-find-out-what-happens kind of book (the best kind). I am excited to read Kate Morton’s other books.

I am marking The Lake House off as “A book with at least 400 pages” for the #VTReadingChallenge.
